A Tesla, being an all-electric vehicle and the most energy-efficient car on the market, can offer substantial savings compared to an internal combustion engine (ICE) equivalent. While charging can be complimentary at various locations like shopping centres, restaurants, wineries, hotels, and holiday rentals like an Airbnb, even the priciest ultra-fast chargers are typically no more than half the cost of refuelling a traditional petrol or diesel-powered car. Depending on your daily mileage, say around 200 km or a couple of hours of driving a day, opting for a Tesla over an ICE car could translate to savings of $20 to $40 per day, or $140 to $280 per week. I recently took a trip back to WA to attend a family wedding which involved a road trip down south. It was the perfect chance to test out the state's EV charging infrastructure!
Booking a vehicle was incredibly smooth, even last-minute - not my first time hiring an EV but first time using Turo. Thanks Pete Petrovsky for being so generous with your time and doing such a thorough induction. If everyone gets that level of intro to EVs then we are in safe hands.
One highlight was experiencing near-true EV ownership being able to control a bunch of features via the app and directly monitor all things charging while away from the car!
Driving through Perth and the scenic south-west showed the diversity of EVs on the roads in WA which is great to see.
